Rhebs Is Rambling
This is my way of letting my family and friends all over the world catch the many goings-on of our ‘stateside’ life rather than writing them one by one.  I sure don’t write impeccably as you can see English is my second language so my rattling through words are at times long-winded and incoherent.  I, myself sometimes get horrified by my own grammar and spelling mistakes but then again that’s just goes to show the imperfect real Me.

Cheers for the New Year!!!

The time seems to fly by very quickly these days. I hope everyone has a healthy, safe and a very happy all year round 2009.

Well, this is the time of the year again where people make new year's resolutions.  The only resolution I'll be more focusing this year is to get down to size 4P clothes.   Our bathroom scales (yes, we have three different brands) are not cooperating with me anymore but I am not going to fret about it.  I know I've been working out at least four times a week and will still continue to work out on a regular basis doing both cardiovascular and strengthening exercises, so chances are good that I have shed some flabs one way or the other.   Just because the scale has stopped moving doesn’t mean I also have to stop exercising and living a healthy lifestyle.  I do believe that all healthy behaviors are well worth the effort.   There are, however, other ways to measure our progress besides the scale right?  After all, good health isn’t always measured in pounds.

DSC04969Well, I really don't have much to say except to share some photos taken today.  DH decided to fire up the grill at 8AM to smoke some spare ribs and baby back ribs for our new year's first dinner.

He smoked these stuff for seven hours and they were so tender and delicious

DSC05004Mom picked me up and left Midget with DH while we went shopping for more yarns.  As you all know she's been retired and one of the things she passionately does on a day to day basis is to crochet.  I can't even begin to tell you how much she spends at Michael's and Joan's stores every week.   She probably made hundreds and thousands of Afphagans, shawls and scarves already... and she just gives them all away to the needy at the hospice, hospitals and the homeless.    She enjoys crocheting and gets satisfaction from people who like and admire her masterpiece.

Here's one I really like the most that I can use during Christmas.  Isn't that lovely?  One of these days, I'll post pictures of the shawls and scarves she lovingly made especially for me.

DSC05000After we got back from the store, my mother-in-law helped DH to make some siopao.  It was fascinating  to see them both making Filipino delicacy for the first time.   *Siopao is a steamed bread buns filled with meat.  DH used pull pork barbeque with sauce and they were delish!

I got a kick out of these two pictures.   You know DH always sticks his tongue every time the camera is focused to his face?  And look who got even with him when he tried to steal a shot with me and Midget.  You go, Midget!!!

After lunch, Midget and I flopped on the coach bundled up and eventually fall asleep while watching Mama Mia's movie on my laptop.   Life is so good.  Remember, the happiest people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.

Here's the link to all the photos taken today.
